Halloween haunt at kings dominion
Haunt at Kings Dominion is a massive park wide event that employs approx. 300 scare actors and show performers for this 5 week long event. The park hosts 11 mazes and zones, and approximately 7 shows, ranging from dance, to music, to circus performance. Each performer is costumed by our costume department, we are tasked with pulling, building, distressing, and altering every costume, accessory and hand prop for these performers. Once the event is open we then maintain and launder the costumes. I am in charge of managing our build schedule, draping, building costumes, delegating build tasks, making pieces lists, sourcing fabric, materials, notions, costume pieces, props, along with designing, keeping track of our build/alteration progress and timeline, all the while supervising our team of 8-10 stitchers/dressers. Haunt at Kings Dominion has its own set of challenges beyond the size of the event, most performers are located outside, fall in virginia can range from very warm to freezing cold all depending on the day, this poses a challenge of keeping our performers comfortable, some costumes evolve depending on the night.
