Summer at Kings Dominion

Kings Dominion has a handful of summer shows and events that are performed across the park and outdoors during our summer season. Getting these shows up and running means keeping to a tight schedule in order to keep track of fittings, rehearsals, casting changes, alterations and costume builds. The summer season is challenging because of weather, it is quite hot in Virginia in the summer and our performers are usually performing in the afternoon, I have to keep this in mind when developing laundry schedules, building new costumes, and advising the design team on costume decisions. The comfort of our performers and the integrity of the shows are top priority. While we are running our summer shows, we are preparing for our Haunt season, we pull, distress, craft and build our Halloween haunt costumes when we are running and maintaining our summer season. This includes attending meetings about our Haunt season designs, making build schedules, researching, recruiting and hiring more costume staff, testing out new techniques, and creating new and interesting costumes and props!
